Tanaka rejects gov't version of NGO controversy

TOKYO, Japan - Former Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka on Feb. 8 responds to questions from reporters at the Diet. She denied the truth of a document compiled by the government that states no specific lawmaker influenced a government decision to bar nongovernmental organizations from an Afghan aid conference in Tokyo last month. ''Do you mean I am lying?'' she asked in response to a question about the document.
